Fell & Sell Bloodstone Greatsword: What We Know So Far
The sword in the stone
Days after launch, the Bloodstone Greatsword became Fell & Sell’s first viral item: players run into a greatsword embedded in a stone during dungeon runs, try to take it — and can’t. Creator clips capture the moment almost word for word: spot the sword, grab it, nothing happens, walk away confused. It is the single most-searched item in the game right now.
What is confirmed
Verified against patch notes, the Steam store page and the achievement schema (as of August 27, 2026):
| Fact | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| A greatsword named Bloodstone Greatsword exists and appears embedded in a stone in the dungeon | ✅ Confirmed | Multiple creator clips at launch |
| Players are frequently unable to pull it on first encounter | ✅ Confirmed | Same clips — the interaction fails visibly |
| Weapons have weight, and an over-full inventory affects pickup | ✅ Confirmed | Patch 1.0.2 notes (over-weight swaps now drop items safely instead of destroying them) |
| Greatswords / two-handed weapons are a supported weapon class | ✅ Confirmed | Store page (dual-wield and heavy weapons shown), sword-kill achievement track |
| Exact requirements to claim the Bloodstone Greatsword | ❓ Unconfirmed | No official source as of Aug 27, 2026 |
Why you might not be able to pull it
Two working theories, clearly separated from fact:
- Inventory weight. The game demonstrably tracks weapon weight — 1.0.2’s fix for “switching from a heavier weapon to a lighter one while your inventory was full” proves weight-versus-capacity checks exist. A massive greatsword failing the same check would explain a silent refusal. One creator clip shows the player asking “do I not have room?” — which is the same guess.
- A progression gate. Roguelite staples often lock signature weapons behind a milestone (a boss, a depth, a stat). Fell & Sell’s achievement list includes deep-floor and weapon-mastery tracks that would fit, but nothing official ties them to this sword.
We are labeling both as theory until the developers or reproducible testing settle it. This page will be updated when that happens — the developers patch fast (two fixes on launch day), so official clarification may come quickly.
What to do in the meantime
- Clear inventory space before touching it. Cheap to test, consistent with the confirmed weight system.
- Note the floor you found it on. Spawn conditions are undocumented; knowing where it appears for you helps when the picture firms up.
- Don’t lose your run over it. Death still wipes your unbanked haul — a maybe-sword is not worth a definite wipe. See the walkthrough for banking discipline.
Weapons that definitely work today
While the greatsword situation resolves, the confirmed weapon path is: start with grandma’s sword, collect recipe scrolls in the dungeon, and craft upward — the recipe ladder runs through uncommon and rare tiers, and you can dual-wield crafted weapons (a mace-and-blade combo is shown on the store page itself). The axe track has its own achievement line (Novice through Journeyman Axeman), so axes are a fully supported alternative to swords.
